We were very pleased to be able to help out the community of Weaverham as it jumped into action to secure the purchase of the land by Owley Wood and especially the prompt action of Richard Gorrill and the Weaverham Trust. We have been able to pledge an amount towards the fund from our member budgets and whilst the final finances are being finalized with help from the Parish Council, the friends of Owley Wood, other groups and individuals it is really pleasing to know the community working together has been able to secure the land for the people of Weaverham, forever. This is a great illustration of what can happen when people work together as part of the Big Society.
On 10 September we had a Community Forum in Weaverham and various issues were raised, 1 of which was Neighbourhood Plans, which is about shaping rather than stopping development as there is a shortage of housing in the Borough and the appeal decision at Golden Nook Farm in Cuddington last year has shown the Council has to justify any refusals it makes otherwise they can be overturned. The traveler site and stable block applications on Millington Lane were refused and enforcement action is being taken although the time period for any Planning Appeals on this has some months left.
Another issue raised at the Community Forum was of speed limits, there is currently a consultation regarding a reduced speed limit for the A49 from the Riverside Pub to the Holly Bush. A new system is being introduced for future speed limit changes and we are hoping to look at this for the B5153, Northwich to Frodsham road for the sections in between the villages.
The Council is running a budget consultation and the second phase lasts until 16 December, a consultation booklet and feedback form has been produced and are now available on the Council’s website:

Hard copies of the document are being sent out to libraries, children’s centres, community centres and the main CWC hub offices. There will be a further more detailed consultation during January 2013.
15 November saw the Police and Crime Commissioner elections, with John Dwyer the Conservative Candidate being elected. John is a former Assistant Chief Constable of Cheshire with 30 years of policing experience. For further information about John and the role of the PCC go to: www.johndwyer.org.uk
We are here to represent and serve the communities of Weaver and Cuddington Ward (Weaverham, Acton Bridge, Cuddington and Dutton) and if you have any issues or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. We try to attend the monthly Parish Council meetings and we hold 2 Community Forums each year.
