(April Community Forum: Cllrs Alan Mckie and Charles Fifield, PCC John Dwyer and Cllr John Grimshaw)
We are here to represent and serve the communities of Weaver and Cuddington Ward (Weaverham, Acton Bridge, Cuddington and Dutton) and if you have any issues or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. We try to attend the monthly Parish Council meetings and we hold 2 Community Forums each year, alternating between Weaverham and Cuddington.
The most recent Community Forum was at the end of April in Cuddington, when we were joined by Officers from from Cheshire Constabulary and John Dwyer, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire to discuss and raise various issues.
Whilst Cheshire is still a safe place to live in comparison to other areas of the country and crime is continuing to fall, there are still issues such as anti-social behaviour, which the Police are working hard in the local community to try to reduce.
Other issues raised at the Community Forum included the Member Grants, which CWC Councillors are able to distribute to community bodies and projects as shown on the Community Grants page.
Residents will no doubt be very pleased to have seen building work commence in Northwich town centre on the proposed new Waitrose site which will also host new residential and leisure opportunities, together with a 50 berth marina. There is a £9m investment to refurbish the Lion Salt Works to create a new museum and heritage attraction to help bring visitors to the area.
Conservative run Cheshire West and Chester Council have also granted planning permission for the £80m Barons Quay development with announcements expected shortly on the supermarket and cinema operator. It is hoped work will commence on site in Autumn 2014, be completed in 2016 and create 1,400 jobs.
The Council’s Executive has also approved the £13.7m budget for the new Memorial Court leisure facility in the town centre. Despite the difficult financial times we live in, whilst other Councils are closing frontline services, Cheshire West and Chester has been able to manage its finances well, save money so it is investing in our future and opening new facilities.
The Council has also just won a £3.4m “pinch point” grant from national government fund to help traffic improvements in Northwich, specifically the Leicester Street / Station Road roundabout, CWC will be investing a further £1.4m to pay for improvements to making the gyratory scheme permanent by November 2014.
Further information about the various investments in Northwich can be found at the Northwich Riverside website.
