3 Positive Reasons to Vote for your 3 Local Conservatives:
(1) Conservatives froze the Council Tax in 2014 and have done so again for 2015: Since Cheshire West & Chester Council was created in 2009 we have saved over £130m from our annual running costs, whilst protecting front-line services and continuing to invest in our schools, adult services and roads.
(2) Conservative run Cheshire West & Chester Council is investing in our town centres, the £80m regeneration of Northwich is underway, the new Memorial Court leisure centre will be open this summer and work has started on the first stage of the Barons Quay shopping & cinema development, due to open in Autumn 2016.
(3) In Weaver & Cuddington ward we have worked and will continue to work with residents, Parish Councils and community groups to find local solutions to local issues such as car parking, recycling & refuse collection. Your Conservative Councillors have used their members budgets to support local projects and initiatives.
Charles Fifield is married to Vickie with 3 young sons and has lived in Acton Bridge all his life. He is a Chartered Surveyor, specializing in commercial property and has worked in Northwich for 20 years. He has been a member of Acton Bridge Community Association since 2005 and has organized the annual raffle for Christ Church Crowton since 2004.
Charles was first elected to Cheshire West & Chester Borough Council in 2011 to represent Weaver & Cuddington ward. He believes our Parish Councils are important to our communities and as such he has always tried to attend their monthly meetings in Acton Bridge, Cuddington & Sandiway, Dutton and Weaverham. Weaverham and Cuddington & Sandiway Parish Councils meet on the same night so it isn’t always possible to attend both if a major item is up for discussion. He has also actively supported local initiatives and community groups with his Members Budget as a Local Councillor since 2011.
One initiative Charles is proud to have worked on is the “Grass Verges and Car Parking protocal”, which has recently started to be used in the Cheshire West, a way of resolving long standing issues of car parking problems in residential areas. Charles is hoping to be able to expand the use of this if re-elected. He was also pleased to be able to help re-establish the Community Safety Action Trust in Weaverham, encouraging Cheshire West and Chester to work in partnership with the Parish Council, Weaver Vale Housing Trust, PCSO’s and Weaverham High, to find potential solutions to local issues. During his 4 years as a Councillor, Charles has served a number of roles including as Chairman of the Appeals Committee and Town & City Centres Working Group, he is currently the Chairman of Corporate Scrutiny Committee.
Harry Tonge originally hails from the North East of England. After graduating from University, he moved to Cheshire in 1975, to work for Royal Dutch Shell at the Stanlow refinery in their Human Resources team.
Over the period of his career with Shell (35 years) he had the opportunity to work across a wide variety of increasingly senior jobs and an equally wide variety of locations before retiring in 2010.
He met his wife, Anne, at Stanlow. They have two grown up children, and, in recent times, two grandchildren.
Since retirement Harry has tried to put something back into the community. He is a magistrate on the West Cheshire bench, and works as a volunteer with a Chester-based advice charity. He believes people have to contribute in shaping their local community and this led him to stand and be elected as a parish councillor for Delamere.
He found the experience on the parish council, particularly the time he was chair of the council, very rewarding, especially when it was able to ensure that the wishes of the local community could be brought to bear to influence Cheshire West and Chester decisions affecting the locality. If elected as a Cheshire West and Chester councillor, ensuring that connectivity of council decisions and local wishes would be at the forefront of his objectives.
Paul Williams lives in Weaverham and is a retired Chartered Accountant. A magistrate for 20 years, he is a member of Weaverham Trust and its Treasurer since 2012. Paul is married and has three daughters and three grandchildren. He is also a trustee of the Eric Hosking Trust, a natural history charitable trust set up in memory of one of the world’s leading bird photographers.
“I am both delighted and honoured to have been selected,” said Paul. “Should I be fortunate enough to be elected in May, I will work as hard as possible for all residents to ensure that our area continues to be a great place in which to live and work. My experience as a magistrate has given me a particular interest in helping both old and young alike.”
