Further details of the proposed roll out of blanket 20 mph speed limits across built up areas, including Weaverham, Cuddington & Sandiway and Acton Bridge have started to appear. Cllr Fifield had it confirmed there would be more community consultation with local residents affected when details of each local scheme are proposed.
The Council has now confirmed, the Borough roll out program, with Weaverham due for consideration in 2017/18 in 2 zones, Weaverham South in the Lime Avenue area and Weaverham North in the Wallerscote Road area. Cuddington & Sandiway will be considered across 2 years, firstly in 2017/18 for Ash Road and Norley Road areas by the primary schools and secondly in 2019/20 for Denehurst Park Way, Glebe Road and Hadrian Way areas. Acton Bridge will see Cliff Road considered in 2019/20. The default option of the policy will see the 20 mph limit introduced.
There would be a week long speed limit assessment completed in each area to see if they meet the criteria for a 20mph i.e. (1) mean speeds are currently less than 24mph; and (2) around schools where the mean speed is currently less than 30mph.
If the criteria are met, then local residents affected will receive a letter informing them of the proposal a fortnight before the formal Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) is advertised, giving the public the opportunity to object.
The Council has also started a review on car parking within the borough and there will be a formal consultation later in the year however we will continue to argue strongly against the introduction of car parking charges.
The Council regularly runs a number of Consultations, which we recommend residents CWC Consultations:
We also encourage residents to use the “Report It” service for issues such as pot-holes, dog-fouling, rubbish collection, via the Report It or contact 0300 123 8 123.
