Since 2011 Cheshire West and Chester Borough Councillors have an annual Member Budget to put they can put towards community projects which benefit the ward. This was originally £10,000 per annum, which was reduced to £5,000 in 2016 by the Labour administration.
From 2019-23, Charles and Paul worked with the independent ward Councillor on member budgets to continue to jointly consider projects. From 2015-19, Cllrs Charles Fifield, Harry Tonge and Paul Williams chose to club their budgets together and invest jointly to help support a variety of projects, as did in 2011-15, Cllrs Charles Fifield, John Grimshaw and Alan McKie. There were boundary changes in 2019 with Crowton and Norley coming into the ward whilst Bartington and Dutton moved out of the ward.
Where possible we prefer to help part-fund projects alongside communities or groups themselves and other funding bodies, prior to 2016 “new homes bonus” provided funding for Parish projects but this too was removed by the Labour administration.
Other potential sources of funding can be found at the bottom of the page.
(Please note Funding requests for 2023/24 have to be received by end January 2024 for projects to be completed by end March 2024).
